Remember when you first purchased your vape device and it was all clean and shiny? Every hit had the freshest taste you’ve ever experienced. You promised to always be good to your device and never let anything bad happen to it. Until it got dirty one day and you thought about purchasing another. Don’t let a newer, shinier vape pen lure you into spending more money.
You just need to do a good cleaning! One of the biggest mistakes a vaping newbie makes is assuming your device is dirty so it’s no longer useful. Cleaning your device is part of the vaping lifestyle. Unless you’re only using disposable devices, there is no reason to purchase a new one. Cleaning a device is easy and necessary. Below we share some tips on how to clean your vape device properly.
What Needs to Be Cleaned?
Knowing the different components of your vape pen or box mod is helpful before you can begin the cleaning process. Remember there are basically three main parts that make up your device: the battery, the coil, and the tank. As you take apart the device, the component you’ll be focusing on for the deep clean is the tank and its components.
At the very least, you’ll want to rinse out the tank every time you change out an e-liquid flavor. If you don’t rinse the tank, you’ll get an odd blend of flavors that won’t taste that great. Plus, rinsing the tank often helps to keep it clean from gunk and residue. Even if you’re not changing out the flavors, it’s important to clean the tank and its parts out regularly.
How to Clean the Vape Tank
Once the device has been taken apart, lay out all of the pieces in front of you on a towel. Some parts of the device, like the drip tip or the tank base, are small and can roll off the table into oblivion, so it’s important to keep everything in one place. It can defeat the purpose if you lose a component while trying to clean the device. Once all of your tank components are detached, and the tank has been completely emptied of e-liquid, place them in a bowl of warm water, making sure each piece is fully submerged. Use a toothbrush, small rag, or paper towel and start to softly scrub each piece until they look like new again.
Some vape experts will use a drop of dish soap to get the tank to really shine. If you think your device is in dire need of a deeper clean, consider using a bit of alcohol. If you happen to have some non-flavored Vodka around the house, that’ll do just fine! Just be sure you rinse the tank thoroughly if you go with this option. Once you notice the residue is cleaned from each piece, take them out of the water and dry them with a paper towel. It’s a good idea to let all of the pieces air dry for a bit (maybe 10-15 minutes) before you put the device back together. You want to make sure all of the moisture has been evaporated before you use it again.
What About the Coils?
By now we know that it’s vital to take your device apart and clean it every few weeks or at least rinse it when you change out your e-juice flavors. Unfortunately, coils aren’t that easy to rejuvenate. Most professional vapers will recommend replacing the coils instead of trying to clean them.
When attempting to clean them, you can sometimes do more damage than good to the coil. Many times they won’t dry well or they’ll end up breaking. Buying new coils and cleaning your tanks are the best way to keep your flavors vibrant and your vaping device clean and fresh.
